Las Margaritas in Jackson Heights operates as a vibrant Colombian restaurant and bar that balances the casual energy of a local hangout with the comforts of full-service dining. Nestled on 37th Avenue, this spot is well-suited for both laid-back evenings with drinks and lively meals where portion size and variety stand out.

The atmosphere at Las Margaritas leans into its dual identity as a bar and grill, with upbeat music often setting the tone. This can mean the volume rises later in the night, aligning well with groups looking for a spirited night out rather than a quiet dinner. The crowd seems to appreciate this blend—it’s a place where friends, couples, and even families can enjoy a “date night” or casual gatherings, especially after work or on weekend evenings.

The menu focuses strongly on Colombian and broader Latin American flavors, with an emphasis on seafood and traditional dishes. Noteworthy options include the Bandeja Típica (a classic Colombian platter), fried calamari, and a range of seafood specialties like the Paella Marinera and grilled jumbo shrimp with passion fruit sauce. Customers often note the generous portion sizes and flavorful combinations, making it a comfortable spot to share plates or settle in for a hearty meal.

Drinks are a highlight here, with various margaritas—both classic and frozen—alongside beers like Corona. This makes it a natural choice for those who enjoy pairing cocktails with Filipino-tinged and Latin-influenced cuisine. The bar side of the restaurant can get lively, particularly later in the evening, making it well-suited for weekend nights or casual celebrations.

Service is generally attentive and prompt, which keeps the experience smooth even when the place fills up. While the staff is friendly overall, some visitors have observed moments where the full warmth typical of Colombian hospitality was a little uneven. Still, many find the lively setting and quality food outweigh any minor inconsistencies.

For locals and visitors exploring Jackson Heights, Las Margaritas offers a practical mix of comfort food with a cultural punch, especially if you're in the mood for traditional Colombian tastes and a bustling atmosphere. Going early in the evening might be best for a quieter meal, while later hours cater to those looking for a lively bar scene paired with solid Latin flavors.

First time coming here. The atmosphere was good and you can tell they get busy as you get into the later evening/night time . The food was good as were the drinks. Service was quick and portions were generous. I would recommend this to anyone looking to try a new spot to eat in queens.

Food here is excellent- and some waiters/ess are the best -just a few that lack that extra “amabilidad” that Colombians have… the music sometimes can be too loud for patrons .. but I guess bar patrons are happy. Over all it is a great choice in the area…

Walked in here as I've heard good things about this place and had a good experience for the most part! Waddling in at almost 40 weeks preggo, we were seated pretty much immediately around noon on a Saturday. Our server came around to take our drinks order while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. We scouted the menu to see if it was to our liking and they offered a variety of Colombian, Mexican, and some American dishes so we decided to stay. Ordered a Colombian coffee, Shrimp salad, tostones con guacamole, pargo frito, calamari, bandeja típica. Everything came out decently quick! Pargo Frito was omggg.. so crispy yet not oily and same with calamari. I didn't get heartburn like I usually do with oily foods so I took it as a really good sign. Toastones pairs so so well with the guac... salivating just thinking about that again. You also can't go wrong with the Bandeja Típica. Classic Colombian dish with a mix of steak, chicharrón, arepita, guac, chorizo, served with rice. Los todos fue muyyyy chimba. My only complaint is when I got up to look for the bathroom, I literally stood in front of two waitress and was totally ignored while they took their sweet time chatting to each other about whatever... which is fine like I don't care but it'd be nice if they acknowledged a first time patron needed help to find the bathroom. This is not reflective of our actual server - she was amazing and so attentive and constantly came to clear our tables (maybe a teeny bit rushed as we were still eating and the restaurant wasn't super full but nbd). Would add this restaurant on my list of contenders next time I'm in the area. The bar area looked like it would be a great time and overall great vibes!
